What is a numitron display?

A numitron display is a display consisting of incandescent tungsten filaments to make up the segments. When powered, these filaments glow white hot, much like in an incandescent lamp, and form the numeral or alphanumeric character to be displayed.

Is a numitron easy to drive?

Yes, numitrons are very easy to drive. You can use a 74LS47 to drive these displays easily — just connect the common of the tube to 5 volt positive voltage and the segments to the IC, and you should see the output in the display.

Can I multiplex these?

No. These displays cannot be multiplexed easily.
